WARRIORS BLANK SOUTHEASTERN AT HELLYER

Ottumwa, IA – The Indian Hills Volleyball squad rolled to a 3-0 sweep over Southeastern Community College at the Hellyer Center on Tuesday night. The Warriors move to 14-5 overall on the year.

Fresh off a pair of victories on the final day of the Lancer Invitational in Torrington, WY this weekend, the Warriors kept its momentum rolling with a straight-sets victory over the Blackhawks to move to 18-0 all-time vs. Southeastern dating back to the 2010 season. Indian Hills has now swept Southeastern in four consecutive meetings and 12 of its last 13 matchups.

Sophomore Luana Silva Ferreira (Guimares, Portugal/Martins Sarmento) led the Warriors with nine kills on 18 attempts with just one attack error for a .444 hitting percentage on the night. Fellow sophomore Piper Nelson (Atkins, IA/Benton), this week's Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC) DI Volleyball Offensive Player of the Week, tallied eight kills to go along with 14 digs for a well-rounded effort.

Sophomore Asialin Powell (Des Moines, IA/Roosevelt), this week's ICCAC DI Volleyball Defensive Player of the Week, tallied a game-high 21 digs. Ferreira added four total blocks to aid the defensive stance for the Warriors.

Southeastern hung with the Warriors in set two only to see Indian Hills run away in the closing points. The Warriors held off a late push from Southeastern in the final set to complete the nonconference sweep.

The Warriors' homestand continues Friday night at the Hellyer Center with another nonconference matchup against Jefferson College (MO). Action gets underway at 6:00 PM.
