WARRIORS DROP VIKINGS, EXTEND WINNING STREAK TO SIX

Ottumwa, IA – The Indian Hills Women's Soccer team extended its winning streak to six matches on Sunday with a 3-1 win at home over Jefferson College (MO). The Warriors move to 9-2-0 overall on the year, the program's best start to a season since 2021.

Freshman Kiara Levac (Sudbury, Canada/E.S.C. I'Horizon) put home a pair of goals while Arnicka Louis (Castries, Saint Lucia/Sir Ira Simmons) tallied a late second half strike to put the match out of reach for the Warriors. The Warriors' nine wins on the year are the most among all National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) DI Women's Soccer programs. The Warriors' six-match winning streak is currently tied for the second-longest streak in the nation.

Sophomore María Melendez (Aragua, Venezuela/Aragua Estudiantil) stopped three shots in net without allowing a goal for the Warriors. Melendez leads the nation in both wins (9) and minutes played (900.40) while her 0.80 goals against average ranks in the top-20.

As a team, the Warriors outshot the Vikings 19-9, including a 10-2 advantage in the opening half. Indian Hills moves to 3-0-0 all-time vs. Jefferson.

Levac struck first for the Warriors at the 9:08 mark as the freshman was on the receiving end of a pass from Louis to take the early 1-0 advantage. Levac doubled the lead for the Warriors just 2:56 into the second half after firing a shot into the far corner from 20 yards out.

Louis put the final tally on the board at the 80:12 mark after tracking down a pass from midfield from Alexia Bru (Barcelona, Spain/Vall d'Hebrón). Louis beat her defender to the endline and buried a strike past the Viking keeper.

With the three points on Sunday, Louis moved up to 13th in the nation with 23 points (8g, 7a) on the year. Levac currently ranks third in the nation with 54 shots through 11 games as the Warriors rank fourth nationally with 123 shots on goal this season.

The Warriors return to action September 26 with an Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC) matchup against Iowa Western Community College in Council Bluffs, IA. Kick-off is set for 3:00 PM from the Reiver Sports Complex.
