WARRIORS EARN NO. 2 SEED IN REGION TOURNAMENT

Ottumwa, IA – No. 9 Indian Hills Women's Soccer earned the No. 2 seed in the upcoming National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) DI Women's Soccer Region XI Tournament, released by the Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC) Tuesday night.

The Warriors enter the postseason tournament as the No. 2 seed after finishing conference play with a 5-1-0 record. Top-seeded Iowa Western Community College also finished 5-1-0 after the two teams split the regular season series. The Reivers claimed the top seed by way of the fourth tiebreaker, goal differential in all conference games. Iowa Western finished the year +18, while the Warriors finished +15.

Indian Hills will host No. 3 seed Iowa Lakes Community College at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, Oct. 26 at Schafer Stadium in Ottumwa. The Warriors won both previous matchups this season, an 8-0 victory at home on Sept. 18 and a 2-0 win on the road on Oct. 9.

On the other side of the bracket, Iowa Western will take on Iowa Central Community College on Oct. 26.

The championship match is set for Saturday, Oct. 30 at the higher seed with game time to be determined.

The Warriors, ranked No. 9 in the latest NJCAA DI Women's Soccer poll, enter postseason play as the top-scoring team in the nation with 103 goals on the season and rank seventh in the country with a 0.47 goals against mark.

Three Warriors rank inside the top-12 across the country in total points scored. Bailey Wiemann's (Burlington, IA/Burlington) 56 points rank third, Risa Ogasawara's (Yokohama, Japan/Hinomoto) 36 points rank seventh, and Ikumi Okumura (Edogawa, Japan/Murata) ranks 12th with 33 points.

The backline defense consisting of Abbie Bailey (Redditch, England), Chiaki Ota (Chigasaki, Japan/Ninomiya), and Hope Ward (Burlington, IA/Burlington Notre Dame) have teamed up with goalkeepers Sydney Ray Anderson (Elkhart, IA/North Polk) and Trisha Westphal (Lockridge, IA/Fairfield) to post 11 shutouts on the year, the second-best mark in the country.
