ANDERSON EARNS NATIONAL HONORS

Ottumwa, IA – Freshman Sydney Ray Anderson (Elkhart, IA/North Polk) of the No. 7 Indian Hills Women's Soccer team has been named the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) DI Women's Soccer Player of the Week.

Anderson helped guide the Warriors to an upset victory over then-No. 4 and previously unbeaten Iowa Western Community College with an impressive performance in net. The freshman entered the match at halftime with the Warriors holding on to a narrow 2-1 lead. Anderson controlled the net for Indian Hills and stopped six shots without allowing a goal as the Warriors went on to win 3-1.

Anderson, who is also a member of the Indian Hills Softball program, has now appeared in three matches for the Warriors this year, stopping 12 shots while allowing just one goal on the season.

As a team, Indian Hills has allowed just six goals on the year for a team goals against average of 0.50.

Anderson and the Warriors are back in action against Iowa Central Community College at 1:00 PM Saturday afternoon at Schafer Stadium in Ottumwa.
