Ottumwa -- Eda Demiralay is the latest international soccer standout to sign a letter of intent to play for the Indian Hills Warriors. IHCC Coach Stephanie Gale announced the signing of Demiralay, a striker who has also played left wing and left back, with experience playing for Hampstead FC, Brentford WFC and, most recently, Islington Ladies FC.
Gale says Demiralay has a great athletic build and is a natural left-footed striker which is great for the Warriors. "We have a few natural lefties on the team," the IHCC coach said, "and it really does give us a chance to change the style of the game. They can play different types of balls with different curves than the typical righty player."
Demiralay should be able to play different roles for Indian Hills. "Eda has speed and the confidence to take players one-on-one, and she has a natural eye for the goal and her surroundings on the field," Gale said. "When she plays in the attacking role, she will definitely be a target to get the ball to. Eda will learn a lot here with the different styles of her teammates, and, most importantly, she will grow into a very powerful player who will move on to a good program after her two years at Indian Hills."
"The reason I wanted to come to Indian Hills is I know I will be playing alongside very talented girls who have the same goals and mindset as me," the IHCC recruit said. "A year ago I was accepted into a top university in London, but realizing I didn't just want to study but also play football at a higher level is what made me want to come to America, because in London they don't offer programs where you are able to both study and play football in college. I spoke to many coaches, but coach Gale was definitely a big part of why I decided on Indian Hills. I believe she will help me better myself and I know she is a very enthusiastic and passionate coach. Not only did the football side help me decide to come to Indian Hills but also the academic side as I know Indian Hills is a great college."
Demiralay said the most exciting part of her new opportunity is being in a different country, playing with talented teammates and doing what she loves the most. "Everything about this program and experience excites me and I can't wait to get there," she said.
