Ottumwa -- Allie Schaefer, a midfielder/defender from Hudson, Iowa, is the latest recruit signed by IHCC women's soccer coach Stephanie Gale. Schaefer plays for the Hudson High School team and the Cedar Valley Select squad.
The IHCC signee has played varsity soccer and volleyball for four years and is an Honor Roll student who was elected to the Student Council this year. She has also been a part of the Peers and Leaders program at her school during her high school years.
Schaefer made Indian Hills her college choice because, she said, "it made her feel at home."
"All of the people are so friendly and have happy faces," the future Warrior said. "The team was so welcoming and it was an atmosphere I really wanted to be a part of. It just seems like the perfect fit for me."
Coach Gale notes that Schaefer comes from a Cedar Valley Select team that plays in a league with high level coaches known for producing great talent. "I have no question Alllie will come in here and join former teammates Liv Pargeon and Stephanie Faust, who have both been incredible assets, and she'll be a key element to our program," Gale said.
"Allie will work hard to develop her skills to get them to the college level. She does a great job of keeping the game simple, connecting on her passes and, what I really notice from her, being vocal. She produces strong tackles and has good speed."
Gale added that off the field Allie brings exactly what she wants from IHCC recruits. "She has an outgoing personality, is welcoming to others, has a supportive family and a great work ethic in the classroom. She is driven and will be a part of the Physical Therapy Assistant program at IHCC. I couldn't be happier to have such a great, positive young lady join our program for 2016."
