Warrior Women Pass First Postseason Test

Ottumwa -- Indian Hills achieved a milestone victory on Wednesday, the Warriors winning the first postseason match in school history. IHCC got two early goals and a shutout performance by goalkeeper Marta Lopez in registering their 10th win of the season, beating Dakota County, 3-0.

Hannah Mitchell got the scoring started for the Warriors with a goal in the eighth minute on an assist from Vera Aall Flood. Flood, just two minutes later, made it a 2-0 game when she found the net off a feed from Sophie Woods. The combination of Flood and Mitchell increased the advantage later in the opening half, with Mitchell notching her second goal and Flood her second assist.

The three first-half scores for the Warriors came with IHCC going into a very brisk wind. With the wind at their back in the final half, the Warriors were content to play tough defense and they kept the visitors off the scoreboard for IHCC's second shutout win of the season.

Indian Hills (10-6-1) advances to the semifinals of the Region 11 postseason tournament and will play Iowa Western at 2:00 Saturday afternoon at the Cownie Soccer Complex in Des Moines.
