Ottumwa -- In a match that was delayed twice, once for over an hour, by lightning, Indian Hills lost a home battle with Iowa Central on Tuesday, the Tritons shutting out the Warriors 5-0.
The sixth-ranked Iowa Central women broke a scoreless tie on a goal by Paige Savery in the 29th minute, then added two more goals in the first half and two in the second.
Less than a minute after netting her first goal Savery scored again to double the advantage. Teammate Laisy Scardazzi added a goal later in the opening half and Lucero Robayo and Lays Freitas connected in the second half. Shortly after Freitas' goal another lightning strike caused the game to be stopped for good.
Indian Hills is 9-6-1 for the season, 2-5-1 in the conference, and will now wait find out their opponent in the postseason tournament in Des Moines.
