Ottumwa -- Indian Hills jumped out to a 5-2 halftime lead, added a second-half goal by Rilee Miller, and went on to defeat visiting Heartland CC, 6-3, on Saturday during a special game dedicated to graduating sophomores Lexi Vaughn, Kayla Holland, Rilee Miller, and Araceli Angel, (pictured left to right) on the IHCC field. The win puts the Warriors' season record at 9-5-1 with one regular season contest remaining, a home match with Iowa Central next Tuesday at 1:00.
Sophie Woods connected on two first-half goals for Indian Hills with Miller assisting on the first and Lexi Vaughn the second. It was one of three assists on the day for Vaughn.
Vaughn also set up Stephanie Faust and Amy Humphrys for goals in the opening half and Summer Arjoon found the back of the net with Woods getting an assist on that score.
Vera Aall Flood paced the Warriors in shots with eight and Vaughn had six. Seventeen of IHCC's 31 shots were on goal, five of them by Flood.
Marta Lopez went all the way in goal for IHCC and recorded six saves.
Indian Hills will look to avenge an earlier 5-0 loss to Iowa Central in the home contest on Tuesday.
