IHCC Women Win 2nd Straight vs. Iowa Lakes

Spencer, Iowa -- After a scoreless first half, Indian Hills scored three second half goals, by three different players, and finished a season sweep of Iowa Lakes, beating the Lakers, 3-1, on Saturday.

Lexi Vaughn's (pictured above) team-leading 7th goal of the season, on an assist by Olivia Pargeon, snapped a scoreless tie in the 55th minute of the contest. Araceli Angel then notched her second goal to double the margin. Vera Aal Flood assisted on Angel's goal.

Iowa Lakes, which was outshot by the Warriors 30-8, got on the scoreboard in the 89th minute to trim the lead to 2-1, Madison Beuchner getting the Lakers' goal.

But Indian Hills put the game away and secured its 8th win of the year when Sophie Woods scored off an assist by Hannah Mitchell with 11 seconds remaining in the second half. The final three goals of the game were scored in the final three minutes of play.

Amy Humphrys led the Warriors in shot attempts with six, one more than Pargeon. Six of Humphrys' shots were on goal, but she couldn't get one past ILCC goalkeeper Christina Henderson.

Sophie Ledger was in goal for IHCC and only faced four shots on goal, recording three saves.

Indian Hills improved to 2-4 in the conference and 8-5 overall with the victory. The Warriors play a conference match at Scott CC on Wednesday before ending the regular season with a pair of home games, against Heartland (Ill.) on Oct. 17 and Iowa Central Oct. 20.
