Brianna Clark Signs with IHCC

Ottumwa -- Another international soccer player has been signed to a letter of intent by IHCC women's soccer coach Stephanie Gale. Brianna Clark, from Sarina, a small beach town in central Queensland, Australia, will come to Indian Hills in the fall to bolster the Warriors' roster.

Clark describes her hometown as a nice, quiet coastal town with beautiful beaches, located just north of the Whitsunday Islands, connecting them to the Great Barrier Reef.

The new IHCC recruit says her love for soccer began when she signed up to play with her older sister, Zoe, in a junior league. She later signed to play for the Magpies Premier women's team to play side-by-side with her sister. Two of her current teammates with the Magpies played with coach Gale at Iowa Central CC. While with the Magpies, Clark helped them win five consecutive premiership titles, before the streak was broken last year.

As for what position she will play at Indian Hills, Clark says, "I'm not fussy. I am happy to play anything on defense. I love playing in the backline, or as a defensive midfielder."

There are a couple of main reasons that Clark says she is 'stoked' to join the IHCC soccer program. "Coach Gale was so friendly and helpful with the recruiting process, and the college itself seems to provide so many opportunities. I'm really excited to be a part of the college and super excited to discover the culture and the country in the fall."

Gale says Clark's size -- she is 5-10 -- will be a great asset to the Warriors' backline. "Brianna is known for being aggressive and doing what it takes to protect her goalkeeper," Gale says. "She is a hard-working girl who brings so much excitement to the program. She is outgoing and bubbly which leads me to believe she won't have any trouble settling in at Indian Hills. I will look for her to command the game and lead the backline with her experience and passion for the game."

The fact that Clark played with a couple of Gale's former teammates gives the current IHCC coach an idea of the great athlete Clark can be. Gale points out that Clark is currently training for a boxing match so she knows she will come to Indian Hills in great shape.

"I'm very excited to get Bri here and help her get settled in," concluded Gale.
