Hannah Signs with IHCC

Ottumwa -- New IHCC soccer coach Stephanie Gale has signed a second player from her native country, inking Hannah Mitchell from Heald Green, Cheshire, England to a letter of intent. Gale said "she is very excited for Hannah to step on American soil and get the season rolling."

Mitchell will join Amy Humphrys, also from England, on the IHCC roster.

Mitchell, who says she has been known as 'H' since she was a young child, took up soccer after seeing her two older brothers play the sport. She has played for three different teams over the past 10 years. Her youth career includes six seasons with Manchester City and the last two years with Stockport County, where she helped lead that squad to the league title last year and into contention for another crown this season.

"I am an attacking player with the ability to play at a high level of football," Mitchell said. "I am looking forward to the entire American college experience, and in particular getting to play soccer every day, which is a dream come true for me."

Gale says Mitchell is a great athlete and she expects her to come in and be very aggressive and do what it takes to succeed. "Hannah can deliver top quality balls into dangerous areas along with her ability to take players on with her speed," said the IHCC coach. "She is a very outgoing player and will be a key element to our team next fall. She will fit in very well here with what we are planning to do with the Indian Hills program. Hannah has a fantastic soccer background and I know she will set an example, on and off the field, for how we want this program to be seen."
