Jim Overturf has been named the next head coach of the Indian Hills Softball program. Overturf returns to the Warriors after previously serving as the head coach from 2008-14.

Overturf brings 29 years of coaching experience to the Warriors who are coming off a 35-24 campaign a year ago. During Overturf’s seven seasons at the helm of the program, the Warriors collected 202 wins while making a run to the 2010 National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) DI Softball National Tournament, securing the NJCAA Region 11 and NJCAA District Championship along the way. The 2010 season also saw Overturf surpass 600 career wins as a head coach at the college level.

Overturf guided three individuals to NJCAA All-American honors while 40 student-athletes earned NJCAA All-Region 11 honors. The Warriors posted three consecutive seasons with at least 33 wins while the program was crowned Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC) Co-Champions during the 2009 campaign.

Following his tenure with the Warriors, Overturf spent two seasons at the College of Southern Nevada where he was named the fourth head coach in program history. The Coyotes boasted a .337 team batting average in 2017, the 9^th best season of all-time at Southern Nevada.

Overturf was appointed head coach of the Warriors prior to the start of the 2008 season following a successful seven-year run at Kirkwood Community College. Overturf led the Eagles to 280 wins to go along with four national tournament appearances.

Prior to Kirkwood, Overturf served as the head coach of the William Penn University Softball program for 13 seasons at the NCAA Division II level. Overturf also guided the William Penn Volleyball program for 16 years.

A native of Albia, IA, Overturf earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from William Penn and a Master of Science degree from Iowa State University in Athletic Administration.
