Former Indian Hills Softball student-athlete Alex Beard joined the Warrior coaching staff as a volunteer assistant for the 2025 season.

A two-year member of the Warriors from 2020-2022, Beard helped lead the Warriors to 87 wins and two National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Region 11 Championships during her tenure in Ottumwa. As a primary backstop for the Warriors, Beard posted a career .395 batting average at the plate with 68 career hits, including six home runs. Beard drove in 44 runs and scored 31 times in 63 career games. Defensively, Beard posted a career .992 fielding percentage with just two errors in 256 career chances.

As a sophomore, Beard was named to the NJCAA All-Region 11 Second-Team for her performance on the field. Academically, Beard was named to the NJCAA All-Academic Third-Team and was named to the Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC) Academic All-Region Team four times throughout her Indian Hills career. Beard was a two-time member of the NJCAA Academic Team of the Year.

Following her time at Indian Hills, Beard moved on to Truman State University where she led the team in 2023 with a .347 batting average while starting 47 of 51 games on the year. Beard also led the Bulldogs in RBI (33) and hits (52) while throwing out a team-high six runners on the basepaths.

Beard received a Bacheor of Science degree in Liberal Arts from Truman State.
