CARLETTA LANDS SECOND ICCAC WEEKLY HONOR

Ottumwa, IA – For the second consecutive week, sophomore Jose Carletta (Barquisimeto, Venezuela/Rioclaro) of the Indian Hills Men's Golf team has been named the Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC) DI Men's Golf Athlete of the Week.

Carletta's progression towards the end of the season continued to reach new heights as the sophomore captured the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) DI Men's Golf Central District Championship to lead the Warriors to the team title. Carletta becomes the first Indian Hills Men's Golfer to win the individual District championship since 2018, and seventh winner over the last 15 seasons for the Warriors.

Carletta, ranked No. 11 in the latest national individual rankings, ran away with the individual title after shooting an 8-under 208 at Tiffany Greens Golf Club in Kansas City, MO. Carletta opened the tournament with back-to-back rounds of 67 to finish as one of just four individuals in the 69-player field to shoot under par. Carletta was the lone golfer to shoot at 67.

Carletta, who has now posted four consecutive top-10 finishes, led the field with 17 birdies over the course of the two-day, three-round national qualifier.

As a team, the Warriors have now captured nine ICCAC DI Men's Golf Athlete of the Week honors this year.

The Warriors, ranked No. 3 in the national rankings, is set to head to Rockwind Community Golf Course in Hobbs, NM for the 2024 NJCAA DI Men's Golf National Championship. The Warriors captured last year's title, its seventh in program history.
