WARRIORS SET FOR NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP IN TEXAS

Odessa, TX – The Indian Hills Men's Golf team is set for the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) DI Men's Golf National Championship at the Odessa Country Club. The four-day, 72-hole event gets underway Tuesday.

The Warriors enter the week ranked No. 8 in the latest NJCAA GolfStat rankings and the highest ranked team from Iowa. The 24-team field features 12 teams that the Warriors have faced off against through the fall and spring seasons, including the four teams from the NJCAA Central District that qualified with the Warriors on April 26.

"We are excited to be in Odessa for the National Championship," stated head coach Michael Wetrich. "The course is in great condition and it is nice and warm here in Texas. The guys have worked hard and had a great couple practice rounds preparing for the event. I am very excited to watch us make a run at the National Championship this week."

Indian Hills heads to Texas led by freshman Frank Vucic (Adelaide, Australia/Seaford Secondary College), the No. 17 ranked golfer in the nation. Vucic finished second overall at the NJCAA Central District Championship with a 2-over 218, the freshman's fifth runner-up finish on the year. Vucic has been named the Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC) Golfer of the Week three times throughout the year.

The Warriors bring a rich tradition of success at the national championship. The Warriors have won six national titles in program history, including five at the NJCAA DI level since 2011. The Warriors placed seventh overall at last year's national championship and had three top-2 finishes in the three tournaments prior, including the 2018 national title.

Sophomore Max T. Hartmann will bring sophomore leadership to the tournament for the Warriors. Hartmann serves as the lone returner from last year's national tournament team. Hartmann will be the first Warrior to tee off on Tuesday at 9:00 AM.

Jaskaran Sohal (Queensland, Australia/Hills International College), Mitchell Revie (Queensland, Australia/Robina State), and Ryan Thomas (Launceston, AU/Rowville Secondary High School) make up the remainder of the starting lineup for the Warriors. Cole Davis (Marshalltown, IA/Marshalltown) will serve as the alternate for the Warriors. Thomas, who tied for 9th place overall at the District championship in Hastings, NE, enters the week ranked No. 30 in the nation.

Sohal will follow Hartmann at 9:09 AM followed by Revie at 9:18 AM, Thomas at 9:27 AM, and Vucic at 9:36.
