Ottumwa, IA – Freshman Frank Vucic (Adelaide, Australia/Seaford Secondary College) of the Indian Hills Men's Golf team has been selected as the latest Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC) DI Men's Golfer of the Week after a strong showing at the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Central District Tournament.
Vucic earns his third ICCAC Athlete of the Week honor after a runner-up finish at the District tournament. The freshman powered the Warriors to a third-place finish and an automatic berth at the upcoming NJCAA National Championship in Odessa, TX.
Vucic finished the District tournament in Hastings, NE at the Lochland Country Club with a 2-over 218, just two strokes back of the first-place finisher, the nation's No. 1 ranked player Harry Crockett from Hutchinson Community College (KS). After opening the tournament with back-to-back rounds of 74, Vucic fired a 2-under 74 to place as the Warriors' top finisher.
The second-place finish for Vucic is the freshman's fifth top-two finish on the year. Vucic previously earned ICCAC Athlete of the Week honors on March 29 and September 28 of this year.
Vucic and the Warriors, ranked No. 9 in the nation, will now head to the national championship at the Odessa Country Club May 10-13.
