WARRIOR GOLF SET TO OPEN SPRING SLATE

Midland, TX – Under the direction of new head coach Michael Wetrich, the Indian Hills Men's Golf team is set to open its spring schedule on Tuesday. The Warriors, ranked No. 6 in the nation, head to the TankLogix/Ranchland Hills Invite at the Ranchland Hills Golf Club in Midland, TX.

"With our first tournament coming up, we're really excited to go down and compete against a strong field," stated Wetrich. "It'll be a great test of competition to see where we're at early on in the year. We'll have some rust to knock from the winter, but that doesn't mean we aren't going to compete at a high level."

The Warriors' season tees off against a number of formidable National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) opponents, including tournament host and No. 1 nationally ranked Midland College (TX). Also in this year's field is No. 3 Hutchinson Community College (KS), No. 4 Odessa College (TX), and No. 5 McLennan Community College (TX). The two-day, 54-hole event opens up Tuesday morning.

"I'm excited to have the entire roster travel and have a chance to compete," Wetrich added. "This is an opportunity for them to build their confidence early on. Once the rust comes off, we'll build on that confidence and hope to peak at the right time heading to Odessa for the national tournament in May."

The seven-man roster will head to Midland headlined by freshman Frank Vucic (Adelaide, Australia/Seaford Secondary College), the No. 1 ranked individual in the nation, announced by Golf Stat in its latest rankings on March 9. Vucic, who was named the ICCAC DI Golfer of the Week in the fall, recorded three second-place tournament finishes, including a runner-up finish at the NJCAA DI National Championship Preview in Odessa, TX.

Ryan Thomas (Launceston, AU/Rowville Secondary) enters the spring season ranked No. 18 in the latest Golf Stat rankings while Mitchell Revie (Queensland, Australia/Robina State) is ranked No. 38 and Cole Davis (Marshalltown, IA/Marshalltown), is ranked No. 41.

Along with the Warriors' trip to Midland, Indian Hills will also compete in the Lindenwood Invitational March 21-22 in St. Charles, MO, the Butler Spring Invitational March 28-29 in Indianapolis, IN and the Prairie Dunes Collegiate April 4-5 in Sterling, KS.

Postseason action gets underway April 25-26 with the NJCAA Central District Tournament in Hastings, NE while the NJCAA National Championship is set for May 10-12 in Odessa, TX.
