ROSE POWERS WARRIORS TO RUNNER-UP FINSIH AT GRIFFON INVITE

St. Joseph, MO – The No. 12 nationally ranked Indian Hills Women's Cross Country squad brought home a second-place finish at the Missouri Western Griffon Invitational on Saturday afternoon. The Warriors placed five individuals in the top-20 at the MWSU Cross Country Course.

Freshman Cindy Rose (Brown's Town, Jamaica/Holmwood Technical), the Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC) Athlete of the Week from a week ago, led the charge for the Warriors with an eighth-place finish for the Warriors. Rose shaved off 12 seconds from her previous personal best 5k mark of the year to finish with  time of 19:05.0 on Saturday.

Fellow freshman Rebecca Duran (El Paso, TX/Chapin) clocked in at 12th place overall with a time of 19:30.6 while sophomore Tiffani Koonce (Prairie City, IA/Prairie City-Monroe) scored for the Warriors with a 16th place finish. Koonce crossed the finish line with a time of 19:37.91.

Freshman Serene Thompson (Albia, IA/Albia) placed 21st overall with a time of 20:02.69 while Abby George (Albia, IA/Albia) rounded out the team scoring with a personal best time of 20:50.49 to place 29th overall. Claire Hayward (Eddyville, IA/Eddyville Blakesburg Fremont) earned a personal best time of 21:21.62 while Shmyhia Morris (Memphis, TN/Whitehaven) added a personal best time of 22:04.02.

The Warriors are now set to host their annual home meet, the Indian Hills Invitational on October 10 at Cedar Creek Golf Course in Ottumwa. Action gets underway at 4:00 PM.
