MICHALSKA NAMED FIRST-TEAM ACADEMIC ALL-AMERICAN®

2024 COLLEGE SPORTS COMMUNICATIORS ACADEMIC ALL-AMERICAN® TEAM

Ottumwa, IA – Sophomore Kinga Michalska (Szówsko, Poland/ZSSCHiO) of the Indian Hills Volleyball team has been named a 2024 First-Team Academic All-American® , announced by the College Sports Communicators (CSC) Tuesday.

Michalska is one of just 20 individuals across the country named to the Academic All-American® Women's At-Large College Division which recognizes student-athletes from two-year and Canadian institutions.

"Kinga is truly incredible on the court and in the classroom," stated Indian Hills Head Coach Lyndsey Michel. "She came to Indian hills with limited English. For Kinga to be an Academic All-American in such a short time, while dually completing ESL courses is truly phenomenal. This honor is the result of true grit, hard work, and the determination Kinga had to be successful here. It was an absolute privilege to have Kinga part of the legacy at Indian Hills. I cannot wait to follow her successes at Eckerd as she continues her All-American campaigns."

Michalska was recognized following her sophomore season as a National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) and American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) First-Team All-American for her efforts on the court, as well as the Iowa Community College Athletic conference (ICCAC) DI Volleyball Player of the Year. Michalska's 581 kills in 2023 rank third-most in a single season in school history while the outside hitter's 1,010 career kills are fifth-most in school history.

Michalska, who has committed to Eckerd College (FL) for next season, helped lead the Warriors to-back-to-back trips to the NJCAA DI Volleyball National Championship while winning consecutive NJCAA Region 11 and NJCAA Midwest District Championships.

In the classroom, Michalska graduated from Indian Hills with an Associate of Arts degree and was named to the ICCAC Academic All-Region 11 team four times throughout her Indian Hills career. Michalska was also recently named to the CSC Academic All-District® At-Large team.

Along with Michalska, Indian Hills Softball sophomore Eva Fulk (Ankeny, IA/Ankeny) was also named a 2024 First-Team Academic All-American®. Michalska and Fulk became the first females in Indian Hills school history to earn the prestigious CSC Academic All-American® distinction.
