DIEHL EARNS THIRD COACH OF THE YEAR HONOR

Ottumwa, IA – For the third time, Indian Hills Softball head coach Lindsay Diehl has been named the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Region XI DI Softball Coach of the Year. Diehl guided the Warriors to a 46-8 record on the year along with the NJCAA Region XI DI Softball Championship.

Diehl, who has been at the helm of the Warrior program since 2019, has now earned the NJCAA Region XI Coach of the Year honor in each of the three seasons the award has been announced, with the lone exception due to the cancelled 2020 season from COVID-19.

Under Diehl's tutelage, the Warriors won the most games for an Indian Hills team since the 2006 team went 46-16. The Warriors won 26 consecutive games from March 14 through April 14, the second longest streak in program history. Along the way, the Warriors also set a new program record for home runs in a season, a mark that currently sits at 124.

The 2022 program earned 12 NJCAA All-Region XI selections, including seven first-team picks. The 12 honors are the most since the 2018 squad. Along with Diehl's Coach of the Year honor, the Warriors also earned the Player of the Year (Destiny Lewis), Offensive Player of the Year (Sydney Anderson), and Pitcher of the Year (Madie Anderson). On the year, the Warriors have collected seven ICCAC Player of the Week honors, seven ICCAC Pitcher of the Week honors, and three NJCAA National Player of the Week awards.
