Ottumwa -- Three players from last year's Indian Hills softball team were recognized by the National Junior College Athletic Association for their work in the classroom during the 2014-15 academic year. And the softball squad made the NJCAA's list of Academic Teams of the Year for the 16th year in a row.
Warriors sophomores Beth Overturf, Chelsea Griffiths and Nikki Boomgarden received individual student-athlete academic honors -- Overturf for Superior Academic Achievement for a grade point average between 3.8 and 3.99, and Griffiths and Boomgarden for Exemplary Academic Achievement, given to those with GPAs between 3.6 and 3.79.
The team GPA was 3.36, extending the impressive streak of team academic recognition that began with the 1999-2000 squad.
