WARRIORS EDGED IN ICCAC DUAL

Waterloo, IA – With a chance to clinch the outright Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC) East Division Trap Championship, the Indian Hills Shotgun Sports squad suffered a narrow defeat despite an impressive outing. The Warriors fell to Hawkeye Community College 488-483 at the Waterloo Izaak Walton League.

Entering Friday's matchup with an unblemished trap record on the year at 3-0, the Warriors produced a season-high with 483 targets. Despite the valiant effort, Hawkeye also produced a season-high with 488 targets to hand Indian Hills' its first dual loss of the year. The Redtails currently have one more regular season shoot remaining – a win would hand Hawkeye the regular season title while a loss, in addition to total targets, would allow the Warriors a chance to claim the title.

Freshman Byron Di Prima (Nauvoo, IL/Warsaw) led all Warrior shooters with a season-best effort of 98 targets. Di Prima positioned himself in a shootout and connected on 22 targets in the extra session to place third overall. Di Prima produced two rounds of 25 and two rounds of 24 to lead the Warriors.

On the ladies side, freshman Josie Bunce (Cedar Rapids, IA/Kennedy) and sophomore Emma Adams (Oskaloosa, IA/Oskaloosa) both tied for third-place overall with season-best totals of 94 targets. Bunce outlasted Adams in the shootout with a perfect round of 25 to claim third-place overall on the female podium.

The Warriors saw an overall impressive outing from its guns as all 15 individuals connected on at least 91 targets on the day. Of the 60 total rounds, the Warriors tallied 15 perfect rounds of 25 on the day.

Sophomore Jason Stursma (Harvey, IA/Pella) followed closely behind Di Prima with 96 targets while Chase Bruns (Hubbard, IA / South Hardin), Hayden Shaull (Brooklyn, IA/BGM), and Greyson Siegfried (Burlington, IA/Burlington) rounded out the top-five individuals with 96 total targets apiece.

Indian Hills will now head to Oskaloosa, IA on October 11 to take part in the ICCAC East Division Skeet & Sporting Clays Shoot vs. Hawkeye and Southeastern Community College.
