Ottumwa, IA – Sophomore Bailey Taig (Perth, Western Australia/Quinn's Baptist College) took home the top overall finish at the 2025 Indian Hills Invitational on Friday afternoon, becoming the second individual in program history to earn top honors at the Warriors' home event. Indian Hills cruised to a runner-up finish as a team.
Taig dominated the course, posting a personal-best time of 24:52.31 to earn the top spot on the podium in a field of 69 individuals. Taig shaved off 40 seconds from his previous personal-best, which was set last season at the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Region 11 Championship, also at the Warriors' home course at Cedar Creek Golf Course in Ottumwa.
As a program, the Warriors have now placed an individual in the top-two finishes at the Indian Hills Invitational in each of the last four seasons.
Taig was joined by freshman teammate Brian Kiprop (Eldoret, Kenya/Kingston College) who produced another solid showing during his breakout rookie season. Kiprop placed third overall for the Warriors with a time of 25:31.16. Kiprop has now produced back-to-back third-place finishes after placing third overall at last week's Griffon Invitational in St. Joseph, MO.
Competing in his first 8k event of the year, freshman Evan Beeler (Farragut, TN/Farragut) took home a top-10 individual finish, placing eighth overall for the Warriors. Beeler crossed the finish line in a time of 26:08.47 to aid in the Warriors' team scoring.
Fellow freshman Presley Berns (Evansdale, IA/Waterloo West) placed 28th overall with a time of 28:03.16 while Tyler Stegemoller (Cedar Rapids, IA/Cedar Rapids Prairie) clocked in with a time of 28:23.66 for the Warriors.
As a team, the Warriors totaled 74 team points to earn the runner-up finish. Indian Hills has now placed in the top-two in the team standings in each of the last three Indian Hills Invitational events.
Des Moines Area Community College earned the top overall team title for the men with 37 team points.
Indian Hills will head into postseason competition with the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Region 11 Championship Friday, October 24 at Lakeside Municipal Golf Course in Fort Dodge, IA.
