Ottumwa, IA – Seven Indian Hills Athletics programs were named National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Academic Teams of the Year, announced by the national office on Thursday. The seven programs tie a department record for most teams in a single academic year.
NJCAA programs are recognized as Academic Teams of the Year for maintaining a team GPA of 3.0 or better for the academic year.
The Warrior softball program earned a department-best 3.80 cumulative GPA on the year, the third-highest team GPA in the nation. The baseball team posted a 3.69 GPA followed by the men's soccer team who posted a 3.27 GPA and the women's soccer team with a 3.21 GPA. The volleyball team posted a 3.20 GPA while the golf team recorded a 3.19 team GPA and a 3.01 GPA from the men's wreslting squad.
The 2023 season marks the 25th consecutive year the Indian Hills Softball team has earned NJCAA Academic Team of the Year honors. 15 individuals were named to the NJCAA All-Academic team for maintaining a 3.6 GPA or better throughout the year.
The baseball squad was recognized as a NJCAA Academic Team of the Year for the 17th consecutive season, led by 11 NJCAA All-Academic First-Team selections, including two-time NJCAA All-Academic First-Team honoree Lou Levy. The Warriors posted the sixth highest GPA among all NJCAA Baseball programs this year.
The women's soccer team was named an NJCAA Academic Team of the Year for the sixth consecutive season after posting a 3.21 GPA with five individual NJCAA All-Academic honors.
The men's soccer team was named an NJCAA Academic Team of the Year for the second consecutive season after collecting 10 individual NJCAA All-Academic selections.
The volleyball team, who placed ninth in the nation this year, recorded its second consecutive NJCAA Academic Team of the Year nod after earning three NJCAA All-Academic First-Team honors.
The men's golf team, who earned a top-10 finish at the 2024 national championship, posted the highest GPA by a team in the state of Iowa.
The men's wrestling squad was one of just four wrestling programs across the nation to maintain a 3.01 GPA throughout the academic year.
