Centerville, IA – Sophomore Brooklyn Noel (Moore, OK/Moore) of the No. 1 nationally ranked Indian Hills Women's Wrestling squad has been named the Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC) Women's Wrestler of the Week, announced by the league office Tuesday afternoon.
Noel led the Warriors to an impressive victory on the road against No. 3 Iowa Central Community College Wednesday night, knocking off the Tritons 29-19.
Noel scored a key victory to open up the night on the mat at 103lbs with a 4-1 decision over then-No. 1 nationally ranked Erica Pastoriza. Pastoriza was previously undefeated in ICCAC dual action on the year.
Noel, ranked No. 1 in the nation in the latest The Open Mat 103lb rankings, becomes the second Warrior this year to earn ICCAC Athlete of the Week honors, joining teammate Abigail Querida Verdejo Rivero.
The Warriors return to action Wednesday night at the Multi-Purpose Building in Centerville with a key ICCAC matchup vs. No. 4 nationally ranked Iowa Western Community College as part of a doubleheader with the men's squad. Action gets underway at 6:00 PM.
