NO. 1 WARRIORS SHINE AT LUTHER HILL INVITE

Indianola, IA – Six different individuals placed to lead No. 1 nationally ranked Indian Hills Women's Wrestling during its season debut at the Luther Hill Invitational on Saturday. Four Warriors earned runner-up finishes on the day.

Competing in the varsity bracket, sophomore All-American Paola Rodriguez (Vega Baja, Puerto Rico/Rosalina C. Martinez), ranked No. 1 in the initial TheOpeMat Women's Wrestling rankings, earned a runner-up finish in the 180lb bracket, winning four matches on the day. Rodriguez cruised through the first four rounds, outscoring her opponents 38-0.

Fellow returning All-American Ileen Castrejon (Beach Park, IL/Zion-Benton Township), ranked No. 3 in the first national poll of the year at 207lbs, earned a runner-up finish after winning her first three matches of the day. Castrejon outscored her opponents 22-4 to advance to the finals.

Freshman Kaylea Beauchamp (Jeffersonville, IN/Jeffersonville) placed second overall in the Freshman/Sophomore Division at 131lbs, posting four consecutive victories to open the day before falling in the championship bout. Beauchamp secured a tech fall, a second round pin, and two decision victories to advance to the finals.

Fellow freshman Evy Marlin (Corning, IA/Creston) placed second overall in the Freshman/Sophomore Division at 124lbs, going 3-1 on the day. Marlin handled her first three opponents on the day, including a pin in 39 seconds in the semifinal round to advance to the championship match.

Freshman Gabriela Avila Diaz (San Juan, Puerto Rico/Academia Bautista De Puerto Nuevo) won five matches on the day to place fifth overall in the Freshman/Sophomore Division at 124lbs for the Warriors.

Indian Hills is back in action for its first dual of the year with a trip to Southeastern Community College in Burlington, IA November 5 at 6:00 PM.
