Ottumwa, IA – Indian Hills Volleyball ran its winning streak to four matches with a 3-0 sweep of Jefferson College (MO) at the Hellyer Center on Friday night. The Warriors improve to 15-5 overall on the year.
The Warriors secured their 12th sweep of the year, and third in their last four outings to pick up their third consecutive sweep over Jefferson. The Warriors defeated the Vikings in straight sets, 25-19, 26-24, and 25-18. Indian Hills has now won 15 consecutive matches on its home floor at the Hellyer Center.
Freshman Farah Sherif (Alexandria, Egypt/EGC) led all Warriors with a game-high 13 kills on the night, boasting a .385 hitting percentage to go along with seven digs. Sophomore Piper Nelson (Atkins, IA/Benton), this week's Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC) Athlete of the Week, tallied 10 kills on 23 attempts to go along with 14 digs for her fifth double-double of the season. Fellow sophomore Luana Silva Ferreira (Guimares, Portugal/Martins Sarmento) added eight kills and a pair of block assists.
Asialin Powell (Des Moines, IA/Roosevelt), this week's National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) DI Volleyball Defensive Player of the Week, tallied a game-high 17 digs for the Warriors.
Sophomore Ana Luiza Caminha Matos (Betim, Brazil/Augusto de Lima) paced the offense with 40 assists to go along with a career-high three service aces.
Next up for the Warriors is a trip to Council Bluffs, IA for a matchup against ICCAC foe Iowa Western Community College at 7:00 PM on October 7.
