Ottumwa, IA – Freshman Farah Sherif (Alexandria, Egypt/EGC) of the Indian Hills Volleyball squad has been named the Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC) DI Volleyball Athlete of the Week, announced by the conference office Tuesday.
Sherif powered the Warrior offense to four wins over the weekend the McCook Invitational in McCook, NE. Sherif tallied 65 kills on 115 attacks to boast a remarkable .461 hitting percentage. The freshman outside hitter posted just 14 attack errors in the four wins.
The Warriors won three consecutive matches in straight sets before a five-set thriller in the tournament finale against Seward County Community College (KS). In the finale, Sherif tallied a season-best 21 kills to lead Indian Hills to its sixth consecutive victory.
On the year, Sherif has posted a hitting percentage of at least .320 in seven of the team's nine matches, including four matches of at least .400. The freshman leads the Warriors with 113 kills and a .348 hitting percentage.
The Warriors are back in action Thursday night at the Hellyer Center with a 6:00 PM matchup vs. Carl Sandburg College (IL).
