McCook, NE – No. 7 Indian Hills Volleyball continued an impressive stretch with a pair of 3-0 sweeps at the McCook Invitational on Saturday as the Warriors dropped North Central Texas College and Butler Community College (KS) in straight sets. The Warriors move to 5-3 overall on the year.
After dropping three consecutive matches to open the year, the Warriors have now rattled off five straight victories, all in straight sets. Indian Hills dropped North Central Texas 25-17, 25-20, and 25-16 before upending Butler 25-23, 25-22, and 25-20.
The Warriors used an impressive opening set to kick-off the day vs. North Central Texas. Indian Hills boasted a .333 hitting percentage in the first frame before closing out the match with a .387 clip on 16 kills and just four attack errors. The offense was powered once again by freshman Farah Sherif (Alexandria, Egypt/EGC) who tallied 14 kills on 22 attacks.
Sophomore Ana Luiza Caminha Matos (Betim, Brazil/Augusto de Lima) distributed 39 assists to go along with seven digs and a pair of block assists in the win over North Central Texas.
In the nightcap vs. Butler, Sherif tallied 14 more kills while sophomore Piper Nelson (Atkins, IA/Benton) added nine finishers. Sophomore Asialin Powell (Des Moines, IA/Roosevelt) anchored the defense with 20 digs while Luiza added 28 assists to fill the box score.
During the team's five-match winning streak, Sherif has averaged 12.4 kills/match while boasting a remarkable .425 hitting percentage. On the year, Sherif claims a .323 hitting percentage to go along with a total of 92 kills.
The Warriors wrap up action at the McCook Invitational Saturday morning with an 11:00 AM matchup vs. Seward County Community College.
