West Plains, MO – The No. 19 nationally ranked Indian Hills Volleyball team returns to action on Thursday for the 2024 Grizzly Invitational Tournament in West Plains, MO. The Warriors are set for three matches over the next two days at the West Plains Civic Center.

The Warriors return to action for the first time in nine days as Indian Hills makes the 349-mile trek to West Plains, MO for the 2024 Grizzly Invitational

The Warriors look to get back on track after dropping its Iowa Community College Athletic Confernece (ICCAC) opener last week to Iowa Western.

  • Indian Hills checked in at No. 19 in this week's most recent NJCAA DI Volleyball ranking.
  • The Warriors head into the tournament ranked ninth in the nation in assists/set at 11.66 and 14th in the NJCAA with 11.96 kills/set.
  • The Warriors' most recent trip to West Plains, MO came in 2022 at the NJCAA National Tournament where the Warriors placed fourth overall.
  • Despite its layoff, the Warriors still boast a number of individuals near the top of the statistical leaderboards:

SCOUTING THE GRIZZLIES

Missouri State - West Plains (17-4) will serve as the tournament host this weekend, a four-day, 13-match event on its home court.

  • The Grizzlies, ranked No. 14 in the latest national poll, have won 11 straight heading into the weekend and are 6-0 on its home floor.
  • MSU-WP currently ranks fifth in the nation with 12.97 kills/set and fifth in the NJCAA with 17.3 points/set.
  • Dating back to the 2012 season, Indian Hills has square off with the Grizzlies 23 times, winning 11 contest, including the most recent matchup, a 3-2 victory in Park Hills, MO last year.

SCOUTING THE CARDINALS

Indian Hills will take on Trinity Valley (15-8) during Friday's first match of the day at 8:00 AM.

  • The Cardinals are coming off a 3-0 league win over Wharton County on October 1 after dropping its previous two matches.
  • Trinity Valley currently ranks second in the nation with 1,114 kills this year and leads the country in total blocks at 230.
  • Indian Hills has matched up with the Cardinals just twice before, taking two wins over Trinity Valley in 2022, including a victory at the NJCAA National Tournament.

SCOUTING THE PONIES

Panola (7-12) heads to West Plains having dropped three of its previous six matches, but most recently swept No. 11 Navarro College (TX) on October 1.

  • The Ponies are 0-8 against common opponents with the Warriors this year, including a 3-0 loss to ICCAC member Iowa Western.
  • Panola is hitting just .125 on the year while ranking 62nd in the nation with 9.96 kills/set.
  • Indian Hills and Panola will be meeting for the first time since 2018 as the two sides have squared off three times dating back to 2010.

The Warriors waste no time jumping back into action as Indian Hills hosts cross-division foe Hawkeye Community College at the Hellyer Center on Saturday. Tip-off is set for 3:00 PM.
