Council Bluffs, IA – The No. 14 nationally ranked Indian Hills Volleyball squad suffered a 3-1 loss to Iowa Western Community College on Tuesday night, dropping its first Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC) contest of the year.

The Warriors took the opening set in dominant fashion from the Reivers, 25-11 after scoring nine of the first 10 points of the set, but Iowa Western stormed back to take the next three frames, 25-18, 25-16, and 25-21 to close out the night. Indian Hills drops to 11-7 overall on the year and 0-1 in league play while Iowa Western moves to 12-8 and 1-0.

Sophomore Sabrina Nogueira Da Silva (São Paulo, Brazil/Colégio Campos Salles) eclipsed the 1,000-dig milestone for her career at Indian Hills after tallying 19 digs in the loss. Over the past two seasons at Indian Hills, Da Silva has totaled 1,003 digs throughout her career. The sophomore currently ranks sixth in the nation with 360 digs this season.

Offensively, sophomore Sara Van Gisteren (Leuth, Netherlands/Young Talent Academy ROC Nijmegen) produced 14 kills on the night to lead the Warriors. Sophomore Ana Carolina Westerich (Blumenau, Brazil/Colégio Energia), the nation's top assists leader, tallied 34 helpers to push her season total to 725.

Daniela De Los Santos Castillo (Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic/Colegio los Clavelines) posted five total blocks on the night, including a pair of solo stops while adding five kills in 15 attempts for the Warriors.

The Warriors are back in action October 3-4 at the Grizzly Invitational in West Plains, MO before returning home on October 5 to take on Hawkeye Community College at the Hellyer Center.
