OTTUMWA, IA – The Iowa Community College Athletic Conference released its Division I All-Region selections for the 2021 spring season and Indian Hills had two selections that landed on the ICCAC squad.
Sophomore leader Gabriela Cavalcante Oliveira and freshman Precious Daley earned spots on the seven-member list of honorees that included four players from Iowa Western and one from Marshalltown in addition to the two Warriors.
A former Des Moines Roosevelt product, Daley burst onto the NJCAA scene in her freshman campaign and was a feared outside hitter that will undoubtedly be a leader for the Warriors in the fall of 2021. Daley was in the top ten of nearly every hitting statistic including kills (233), kills/set (3.19), and hitting percentage (.283). Daley reached these accomplishments while sitting on the outside the top ten in total attempts, proving how well she attacked when she had her opportunities.
Cavalcante was one of just two sophomores represented on the ICCAC All-Region team this year, and her experience showed. An all-around nightmare for other teams, she led her team in kills (252), kills/set (3.60), attempts (733), and was third in digs (201) and digs/set (2.87).
The Warriors finished 14-9 and fell just one set short of reaching the NJCAA National Tournament after dropping the Midwest-B District final to Missouri State-West Plains in five sets.
