Ottumwa -- Tamara Merseli, the first two-time All-American for the IHCC volleyball program, this week signed a national letter of intent to attend the University of North Dakota.
Merseli will transfer to the Grand Forks, N.D. school following two outstanding seasons at Indian Hills. She was a National Junior College Athletic Association honorable mention All-American choice after her freshman year and moved up to the All-American 2nd team after this past season.
Merseli, an outside hitter, helped lead Indian Hills to 32 wins in both of her years at IHCC and an overall mark of 64-12. The native of Belgrade, Serbia, ended her Indian Hills career with 969 kills and 767 digs. In her sophomore campaign, she had 460 kills and averaged 3.74 per set, 12th in the nation. Merseli was also second in digs for the Warriors with 328, and had 25 kills when IHCC knocked off then-top-ranked Tyler (Texas) in a key match in October.
Merseli was one of three players to sign with UND this week at the start of the spring signing period.
