Ottumwa -- Sophomores Tamara Merseli and Kameo Pope represented the Indian Hills volleyball team on the All-Region team announced after the end of last week's district tournament.
The two IHCC standouts, both two-year starters on teams that had a combined record of 64-12, were among the statistical leaders for Indian Hills.
Merseli, an honorable mention All-American as a freshman, was the lone returner on the Division I All-Region squad. An outside hitter, she had 460 kills this season, an average of 3.74 per set. Her signature performance may have come when she had 25 kills as the Warriors knocked off then-No. 1 Tyler (Tex.) in early October. She was named the region and national player of the week for that effort. Merseli, a native of Belgrade, Serbia, was also second on the Warriors with 328 digs.
Pope is from Belle Plaine, Iowa and was the Warriors' middle hitter. Her hitting percentage of .401 was fifth in the nation and she paced IHCC in blocks with 134 and was second in kills per set at 2.44 on a total of 281 kills. Pope also recorded 48 service aces for the season and had five in one set in a regular season match with Ellsworth.
