DMACC Rallies to Beat Warriors

Ottumwa -- Indian Hills let a two sets-to-none advantage slip away and the Warriors dropped their first match of the season on Wednesday night, DMACC coming back to defeat IHCC in five sets.

It was the home opener for Indian Hills (4-1) and the Warriors gave the home crowd plenty to cheer about in the opening two sets, winning 25-21 and 25-23. But DMACC stayed alive by taking the third set, 25-22, evened the match with a thrilling 26-24 decision in the next set, and then won the deciding set 15-7 as the Bears kept their record perfect at 5-0.

Strong net play by Tamera Merseli, Lauren Streets and Kameo Pope -- all returners from last year -- as well as Bailey Darnall helped the Warriors take the first two sets. But DMACC fought back by winning two close sets in a row, breaking a 24-all tie in the fourth set. The visitors then sealed the win by jumping out to a quick 5-2 lead in the final set.

Indian Hills will look to bounce back in a trip to West Plains, Mo., next Tuesday when they will battle the sixth-ranked Missouri State-West Plains Grizzlies.
