Marshalltown, Ia. -- Indian Hills won the first two sets against home-standing Marshalltown on Tuesday night and then held off a late rally by the Tigers to take the match 3-1.

After losing the third set, 25-20, the Warriors found themselves trailing MCC 6-0 and 8-2 early in the fourth set. They survived a 22-20 Tiger lead later in the set and closed out the match with a 28-26 win.

Indian Hills got off to a fast start by winning the first two sets, 25-19 and 25-23.

The Warriors were looking to rebound after only their second defeat of the season six days earlier. Both losses have been to Iowa Western.

IHCC never trailed in sets one and two. The Tigers rallied to tie the second set at 23-all, but, after an IHCC timeout, a service error by the Tigers and a Kameo Pope kill finished off MCC.

Pope had 11 kills in the match. Nora Buvarp and Tamara Merseli led IHCC with 12 each. Buvarp had a team-high 17 digs while Katie Soddy had 13. Jessica Eekhoff led the Warriors with five blocks.

Marshalltown, down 2-0, held a slim lead throughout most of the third set and scored seven of the last nine points to pull away for the win.

After being down by six points twice early in the final set, Indian Hills got even at 12-12. After one more tie, the Warriors were able to pull out the win, with Lauren Streets accounting for the final point of the evening.

The win evens the Warriors' Region 11 record at 2-2 and puts them at 23-2 for the season. They will play at Mineral Area next Monday night.
