Volleyball Squad Takes Two

Union, Mo. -- The undefeated Indian Hills volleyball team is ready to face its biggest test so far this season after the 14th-ranked Warriors kept their season record unblemished with a pair of wins in a tourney on Saturday.

IHCC knocked off the host school, East Central, in three sets before defeating the Missouri Baptist JV, also in three sets. The results leave the Warriors with a 13-0 record heading into Wednesday's match at No. 2 Iowa Western.

In Saturday's action, Indian Hills got 15 kills from freshman Kameo Pope in the East Central match, IHCC winning 25-22, 25-16 and 25-12. Freshman Tamara Merseli had a team-high 10 kills as IHCC won the second match, 25-18, 25-12 and 25-22.

Merseli had a total of 25 digs, 18 of those coming against East Central.

Sophomore setter Katie Soddy did another good job of running the Warrior offense, piling up 70 assists for the day, 45 of them coming against East Central. A pair of freshmen, Sarah Ryder and Lauren Streets, each had eight digs against Missouri Baptist, after Ryder had 11 in the opening match.

The first of two regular-season matchups between Region 11 foes Indian Hills and Iowa Western will be played in Kanesville Arena in Council Bluffs on Wednesday. The Warriors will host the Reivers on Oct. 8. IHCC will play Iowa Lakes at home this Saturday.
