Warriors Win Once in Jefferson Tourney

Hillsboro, Missouri -- A sweep over the host school followed by two tough losses was the story for the Indian Hills volleyball team in the Jefferson College tournament. The Warriors got off to a good start with the 3-0 win over Jefferson, but lost in three sets to Hutchinson (Kan.) and then dropped a four-set match to Illinois Central, a team ranked sixth in NJCAA Division II.

The sophomore duo of Peyton Crosser and Shelby Lauterbach paced the Warriors' win against Jefferson. Crosser had 11 kills, one more than Lauterbach, in the IHCC victory. Lauterbach also had double-digits in digs with 10; Kassidy Guihan led the Warriors in that category with 20. And Katie Soddy had 34 assists.

Lauterbach added a dozen kills and 11 digs in the match with Hutchinson. Camila Luiza had a team-high five blocks.

Against Illinois Central, Lauterbach again had a double-figure effort in kills with 12 and Crosser added 10 and Mirela Vosconcelos eight. Guihan was credited with 18 digs and Marlee Lindstrom had 15.

The Warriors were dominant in winning the second set, 25-13, but lost three close sets by scores of 25-21, 27-25 and 25-23.

Indian Hills heads to West Plains, Mo. to take on Missouri State-West Plains on Monday night. IHCC dropped a five-set match to the Grizzlies earlier in the season.
