Union, Missouri -- The IHCC volleyball team split four matches in the East Central Falcon Classic over the weekend. The Warriors won one and lost one on both Friday and Saturday, beating the Missouri Baptist JV and bowing to Mineral Area Friday, and knocking off Southwestern Illinois before losing to Buler County (Kan) on Saturday.
IHCC dropped the first set to Missouri Baptist before regrouping and taking three staight sets, two of them by three points and one by two points.
Despite 10 kills by both Peyton Crosser and Mirela Vosconselos, Indian Hills failed to take a set from Mineral Area. The Warriors were only credited with four blocks in the match.
Saturday started much better with Shelby Lauterbach serving a half dozen aces in the Warriors' four-set win over SW Illinois. She also had 13 kills, the same number as teammate Camila Araujo. Indian Hills did a much better job of defending the Blue Storm's attack with 27 blocks, led by Camila Luiza's seven.
But Butler County prevented the Warriors from having a winning tourney by taking all three sets in the day's final match.
Crosser and Lauterbach had seven kills each and Lauterbach had 14 saves and Crosser four blocks for IHCC.
Indian Hills will look to avenge an earlier loss to Iowa Western when they play the Reivers in Council Bluffs on Tuesday night.
