Ottumwa, IA – The Indian Hills Outdoor Women's Track & Field team continues to climb in the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) rankings as the Warriors check in at No. 7 this week.
The Warriors earned their highest ranking of the season after climbing one spot from last week. Indian Hills, who finished the 2021 season ranked No. 15 in the nation, are also ranked No. 3 in this week's USTFCCCA Midwest Region Ranking.
After a strong showing at the Sooner Invitational in Norman, OK, the Warriors have continued to make waves in the national conversation as the upcoming outdoor national championships in Hutchinson, KS loom. The Warriors head to the Iowa Musco Twilight event on Saturday in Iowa City, IA before heading to one of the premier events in the nation, the Drake Relays next week.
Indian Hills is led by a number of individuals in a series of events that have contributed to the team's national ranking. The Warriors hold the third-best mark in the women's 100-meter dash and fourth-best mark in the 200-meter dash behind the efforts of Kayla McCray (Miami, FL/North Miami) and Kahliyah Anderson (Texarkana, TX/Texas) who rank 1-2 on the team.
The Warriors' 57.77 average time in the 400-meter dash is the fourth-best mark nationally as Anderson leads the way with a season-best time of 55.94. Aliyah Simmons (Miami, FL/North Miami) holds the top time for the Warriors in the 800-meter run which ranks sixth in the nation at 2:15.71.
