WARRIOR WOMEN EARN POSTSEASON HONORS

Ottumwa, IA – The Indian Hills Women's Track & Field squad was well represented on the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) All-Region XI squad as 13 individuals received postseason accolades.

At the NJCAA Region XI Indoor Championship over the weekend, sophomore Aliyah Simmons (Miami, FL/North Miami) took home top honors in the women's 600-meter dash with a time of 1:34.44 to earn All-Region first-team honors. Simmons set the facility record after leading the event start-to-finish.

Aimaya Drummond (San Antonio, TX/San Antonio Brennan) was named to the All-Region second-team in the women's 400-meter dash event after placing second overall with a time of 57.84. Temira Goods (Des Moines, IA/Des Moines Hoover) earned  Honorable Mention honors in the event, placing third overall behind Goods with a time of 59.55.

Sophomore Monse Guerrero (Ottumwa, IA/Ottumwa) continued to flourish in her second season as a Warrior after breaking her own school record in the women's 3,000-meter run to receive Honorable Mention honors.

A pair of jumpers collected postseason accolades as well as Siby Yao (Leesburg, VA/Riverside) set a new school record in the triple jump with a mark of 11.40-meters to earn All-Region second-team honors. Haleigh Hadley (Gilbert, IA/Gilbert) earned Honorable Mention recognition with a third place finish in the high jump with a mark of 1.65-meters.

The Warriors were well-represented in the relay events as well. Indian Hills earned both second-team and Honorable Mention All-Region honors in the women's 4x400-meter relay event. Anchored by Drummond, Simmons, Goods, and Khaliyah Anderson (Texarkana, TX/Texas), the Warriors' A Team posted a second-place time of 3:52.36 while the B Team of Ja'Dashia Catlin (Palm Coast, FL/Matanzas), Kaylen Pryor (Chicago, IL/South Shore International Prep), Peyton Steva (Iowa City, IA/Iowa City West), and Kimeisha Star (Des Moines, IA/Des Moines East) crossed the finish line at 4:10.32 to finish third.

In the women's Distance Medley Relay, Lizeth Flores (Harvard, IL/Harvard), Catlyn, Pryor, and Isabelle Mellin (Ottumwa, IA/Ottumwa) placed second overall with a time of 13:53.25 to earn second-team All-Region honors.

The Warriors will now head to Pittsburg, KS for the NJCAA Indoor National Championships March 4-5 at the Robert W. Plaster Center.
