Ottumwa, IA – Sophomore Kahliyah Anderson (Texarkana, TX/Texas) of the Indian Hills Women's Track & Field team picked up her second weekly accolade of the season after an impressive showing at the Cyclone Open. Anderson is this week's Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC) DI Women's Track & Field Athlete of the Week.
Anderson, who was named the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) National Athlete of the Week on Dec. 14, sprinted to two school records at the Cyclone Open on Saturday.
In the women's 400-meter dash, Anderson broke her own school record with a time of 55.94 to qualify for the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Indoor National Championship. The mark is also the top time in the NJCAA this year.
One week removed from narrowly breaking the school record in the women's 4x400 relay, Anderson powered the Warrior quartet to the program record with a time of 3:48.76, the second-best time in the NJCAA this year. Anderson, who anchored the relay with a split of 56.2, and the Warriors placed second in the event behind the University of Minnesota.
The Indian Hills Women's Track & Field team has now earned back-to-back ICCAC Athlete of the Week honors after Aliyah Simmons (Miami, FL/North Miami) earned the honor last week. Simmons was also a member of Saturday's school record 4x400 relay squad with Anderson.
Next up for the Warriors is the Mark Schuck Open in Mankato, MN Jan. 28-29.
