ABDELHADY NAMED FIRST-TEAM ACADEMIC ALL-AMERICAN®

Ottumwa, IA – Sophomore Mohamed Tarek Abdelhady (Alexandria, Egypt/Sports Military School) of the Indian Hills Men's Wrestling team has been named a 2026 First-Team Academic All-American®, announced by the College Sports Communicators (CSC) Wednesday.

Abdelhady is one of just 20 individuals across the country to be named to the Academic All-American® Men's At-Large College Division which recognizes student-athletes from two-year colleges and universities as well as Canadian institutions. Just 0.2% of all NCAA, NAIA, and NJCAA at-large men's student-athletes earned the title of Academic All-American® in 2025-26.

"This recognition is a reflection of who Mohamed is every day," stated head coach Cole Spree. "He is driven, disciplined, and committed to excellence. Being named First-Team Academic All-American is a well-deserved honor for an outstanding student-athlete."

Abdelhady capped his remarkable Indian Hills career as a two-time National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) All-American after guiding the Warriors to back-to-back team national titles. Abdelhady placed fourth overall at the 2026 NJCAA Men's Wrestling Championship after a runner-up finish as a freshman. One of the top wrestlers in the nation, Abdelhady leaves Indian Hills as one of the most decorated individuals and ranks in the top-10 in school history in nine different statistical categories.

Academically, Abdelhady has twice been named a National Wrestling Coaches Association (NWCA) Scholar All-American and is a two-time member of the NJCAA All-Academic First-Team (4.0 GPA). Abdelhady has also been selected to the Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC) Academic All-Region First-Team four times throughout his tenure with the Warriors.

Abdelhady will continue his academic and athletic collegiate career at NCAA DI Bloomsburg University (PA).

In addition to Abdelhady, fellow sophomore and teammate Shehabeldin Mohamed and sophomore Mason Costello of the men's basketball squad have also been named as CSC First-Team Academic All-American® honorees.

Across all levels of collegiate athletics (NCAA, NAIA, NJCAA, and Canadian Institutions), Indian Hills Community College is the only school in the nation to place three individuals on the first-team in their respective division. Indian Hills is one of just 12 institutions across the country, including the likes of Stanford University, University of Notre Dame, and Princeton, to have at least three individuals represented in their respective division.

Over the past three seasons, Indian Hills has now garnered a total of 14 CSC Academic All-American® honors, including nine first-team recipients.
