Centerville, IA – Sophomore Riley Bettich (Stevensville, IN/Crown Point) helped lead No. 2 nationally ranked Indian Hills Men's Wrestling to the program's second all-time National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) North Central District title on Sunday. For his efforts, Bettich has been tapped as this week's Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC) Athlete of the Week.

Bettich powered the Warriors to the District title by securing the individual championship at 125lbs. Bettich, who won both matches during Sunday's national qualifier, was selected as the ICCAC Wrestler of the Year following the tournament.

Ranked No. 1 in the nation at 133lbs throughout the duration of the year, Bettich entered the postseason tournament wrestling down to the 125lb bracket and earned the top overall seed. The 2023 NJCAA All-American cruised to the program's third all-time 125lb District title after going 2-0 on the day. The sophomore knocked off Dominic Chimeno of Iowa Lakes with a fall in 2:51 to advance to the finals. In the championship bout, Bettich upended No. 5 nationally ranked Jaydale Whitlock of Iowa Central with a pin in 2:59 to secure his first-ever District title.

Bettich becomes the first individual in program history to earn the ICCAC's Wrestler of the Year honor. With the two wins, Bettich moved into the top-five in school history with 41 career wins.

Bettich's victory at the national qualifier secured an automatic bid to the upcoming NJCAA National Championship in Council Bluffs, IA March 7-8.
