ETUMA NAMED ICCAC ATHLETE OF THE WEEK

Ottumwa, IA – Sophomore Michael Etuma (Iowa City, IA/Iowa City) of the Indian Hills Men's Track & Field program has been named the Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC) Men's Track & Field Athlete of the Week, announced by the conference office Tuesday.

Competing at the Kansas Relays in Lawrence, KS, Etuma shattered the school record in the men's discus throw. Etuma produced a throw of 56.18 meters, more than three meters more than the sophomore's previous personal best. Etuma's mark was good enough for third overall, and the top junior college mark at the event.

Etuma currently ranks fourth in the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) this year in the discus and 10th nationally in the men's hammer throw. As a program, the Warrior throwers boast the No. 1 event squad in the nation in the shot put, hammer throw, and discus throw events.

Etuma ranks in the top-10 in Indian Hills school history in four different events, including three top-three marks for the Warriors.

Indian Hills has now collected five ICCAC Outdoor Track & Field Athlete of the Week honors this year.

Etuma and the Warrior throwers will head to both the Drake Relays in Des Moines, IA and the Kip Janvrin Open in Indianola, IA this weekend.
