BANKS NAMED ICCAC ATHLETE OF THE WEEK

Ottumwa, IA – Following a record-breaking weekend, freshman Kaden Banks (Onalaska, WI/Holmen) of the Indian Hills Men's Track & Field squad has been named the Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC) Athlete of the Week, announced by the league office Tuesday afternoon.

Banks starred at the Wartburg Select meet in Waverly, IA over the weekend with a pair of impressive performances to lead the throws group. Banks took home a first-place finish in the men's discus throw while placing third overall in the men's shot put.

In the discus event, Banks shattered the Indian Hills program record with a mark of 55.94 meters to surpass former Warrior and current assistant coach Elijah Barnes (2019). Banks' mark in the discus currently ranks No. 2 overall in the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA).

Banks added a third-place showing in the shot put with a mark of 16.76 meters, good enough for third all-time in Indian Hills school history and currently No. 7 among all NJCAA competitors.

As a program, the Warriors currently boast the No. 1 ranked discus and hammer throw squads in the nation while the shot put group ranks No. 2 nationally.

The Warriors will head to a pair of events this weekend with the Jim Duncan Invitational in Des Moines, IA and the Arkansas Spring Invitational in Fayetteville, AR.
