Ottumwa, IA – The Indian Hills Men's and Women's Track & Field program has added J.R. Adams to its coaching staff as an assistant coach. Adams will serve as the team's primary jumps coach.
Adams joins the Warrior staff after previously serving as the assistant coach for the cross country and track & field programs at Howard Community College (MD). Adams specialized in hurdles and jumps with the Dragon program.
"J.R. brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to our program," stated head coach Brent Ewing. "His background as an athlete and coach in the NCAA DI, NCAA DIII, and NJCAA levels provides him with unique opportunities that will help him guide our student-athletes. It is clear to me that Coach Adams is a man of high character and will make an instant impact in helping guide our young adults."
Prior to Howard, Adams had a coaching stop at The University of Maryland Eastern Shore where he worked with the multi-events, throwers, and pole vault. Adams helped produce the 2020 MEAC Men's Pole Vault Champion and a first-team All-East multis performer.
Adams competed on the cross country and track & field programs as an undergraduate at Delaware State University (Wesley College) before transferring to Maryland Eastern Shore and graduated with a Bachelor's of Science degree in Exercise Science (Kinesiology).
"I joined the Indian Hills staff because I believe in the mission of Indian Hills and to help student-athletes win in life and in competition," Adams stated. "I'm here to help the track and field program dominate the competition and leave a legacy of excellence."
