TCHANBI NAMED ICCAC TRACK ATHLETE OF THE WEEK

Ottumwa, IA – Sophomore Aurel Tchanbi (Abidjan, Cote d'Ivoire/College Heleis) has been selected as this week's Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC) DI Outdoor Track Athlete of the Week after an impressive showing at the Drake Relays.

The honor is the fourth of the year for Tchanbi who has now collected two outdoor Athlete of the Week honors as well as a pair of indoor accolades.

Competing in three events at the historic Drake Relays, Tchanbi continued his remarkable sophomore season in the Maroon and Gold. The 2022 ICCAC Indoor Track Athlete of the Year, Tchanbi placed second overall in the men's 200-mter dash with a time of 20.84. Tchanbi also dashed to a fourth-place finish in the men's 100-meter dash at 10.81.

As the anchor of the men's 4x100 relay, Tchanbi powered the Warriors to a first-place finish with a time of 40.19. The first-place finish is just the second title the Warrior program has brought home from the Drake Relays.

Tchanbi currently ranks No. 3 in the NJCAA in the men's 100-meter dash and No. 7 in the 200-meter dash. The Warriors' 4x100 relay squad currently ranks No. 5 overall in the NJCAA.

Tchanbi is set to head to the ICCAC Outdoor Track & Field Championships this weekend in Council Bluffs, IA. The sophomore enters the weekend with the top marks in the ICCAC in both the 100m and 200m.
