MARSHALL'S RECORD-BREAKING EFFORT EARNS HONOR

Ottumwa, IA – Freshman Rivaldo Marshall (Kingston, Jamaica/Calabar) placed himself in the record books over the weekend and has earned Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC) Athlete of the Week honors for his efforts.

Competing at the Iowa Musco Twilight event in Iowa City, Marshall sprinted to a school record in the 800-meter run with a blistering time of 1:48.70, eclipsing the previous Warrior mark by 2.5 seconds. Marshall finished second overall in the event, finishing behind only professional runner Erik Sowinski.

With the school record time, Marshall, who finished second overall in the NJCAA Indoor National Championship in the 800-meter run, owns the second-fastest outdoor time in the NJCAA since 2008. The mark is good enough for 13th all-time in NJCAA history. The fastest mark of all-time in NJCAA history is 1:45.15 set by Boaz Lalang of Rend Lake Community College (IL).

Marshall's record-breaking performance has earned him a spot in the upcoming Drake Relays in the men's seeded College/University 800-meter run field. Marshall will compete at the premier event, tentatively scheduled for 1:56 PM on Friday afternoon.
